Charlotte Linton is based in London, working as a freelance print consultant, fashion writer and as the designer of her own line of scarves. Born in Essex, England, she studied at Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Art, London. She has worked with designers such as Paul Smith, Hussein Chalayan, and at the design studios of Chloe. In 2010 she was short listed for Fashion Fringe, and has been featured in publications including Arise Magazine, The Times Luxx, Vogue.co.uk, WGSN and Costume magazine. 2011 saw the launch of ‘Zoologist by Charlotte Linton’ an accessories and apparel collection exclusively available at Anthropologie stores in the UK, the US and from Anthropologie.com.

Charlotte has been heavily influenced by antique imagery of naturalists and narratives of exploration; from Hergé’s The Adventures of Tin Tin to archive papers held at the London Zoological Society. This has led to the creation of the fictional muse named Ermantrude; a zoologist traveling around the world in the earlier part of the 20th century. ‘Ermantrude’s Travels’ is a fictional travel blog where we see a pictorial representation of her adventures; this is updated weekly.

Charlotte’s collections are based around Ermantrude’s wardrobe. Her clothes and accessories are from a mixture of cultures and periods with a simple and elegant approach to design, while the prints are eclectic and vibrant reflecting the pluralism of her life and travels.

Charlotte’s seasonal scarf collections are printed in Scotland and hand finished in the UK.
