Pattern Archive Image Submission Guidelines
Are you interested in submitting images to The Patternbase’s Pattern Archive?
To submit, please visit the Pattern Archive, and click the “SUMBIT” button, and follow the prompts.

- Images must be .jpg or .png files under 15MB each.
- Please include an appropriate and intelligent description.
- Images will not be accepted if this information is missing.
- Provide URLs to original sources of the images when possible.
- Include credit to the artists and designers responsible for creation of the work. If possible, also include a hyperlink to their website or the location where you found their work.
- Provide descriptive 5-10 appropriate tags for each image, separated by commas.
Due to the large number of submission we receive, we cannot respond to questions regarding the status of your submission. If we feel that your images are the right fit, we will post your submissions within thirty days of receiving them.
Featured Artist Submission Guidelines
Are you interested in being a featured artist on the The Patternbase?
We are interested in hearing from: textile designers, fashion designers, fiber artists, design labels, textile studios, print studios, design agents, illustrators, artists, and authors who work with patterns.
We are always looking for new and interesting work to exhibit! We welcome anyone involved in textiles, fashion, art, and design to apply.

- Company/Blog/Online Portfolio
- Email Address
- A Brief Artist Bio
- 5-10 images of your most recent work

We are very proud of our featured artists and hope that once you are added to our site that you will keep in touch and let us know of any projects that you are working on. In addition, if you are interested, we would be happy to add you to our newsletter mailing list so that we can keep you updated of what we are doing too.

Guest Writer Submission Guidelines
Are you interested in writing for the The Patternbase?
We welcome anyone involved or interested in writing about in textiles, fashion, art, and design to submit post ideas our way. We ask that you send us a detailed outline and a short description of your post idea instead of sending us full articles. That way we can determine if the post is a good fit before you spend a lot of time writing it.
The Patternbase features the following articles from selected guest writers:
- Artist interviews
- Studio visits
- Relevant book reviews
- Relevant exhibition reviews
- Mood boards
- Trend Forecasts
Benefits to Guest Writers:
- Promotion of your post on The Patternbase social media channels and in our newsletter. Our audience currently reaches over 60,000 readers designers, artists, and relevant members of the international textile and surface design community.
- A brief bio at the end of each post with a picture and up to two links of your choosing.
- The potential to work with The Patternbase more closely with future writing and intern projects if we find your work to be exceptional.
Expectations of Guest Writers:
- Publishing: Articles written for The Patternbase may be linked from your blog and/or social media pages, however they may not be published in full on your blog. We ask you not republish the whole post.. Rather, we request you post only an excerpt, and link to the full post featured on The Patternbase website.
- Article rights: By writing for The Patternbase, you provide us with the rights to use the article indefinitely
- Images: Each post must include at least three supporting images along with your post.
- Short bio: You may include a sentence or two about yourself or your business. You can include up to two links, to your Website, Blog, or Facebook.
- Rights: The Patternbase has the right to make adjustments to your article and the title in the proofing stages.
Here are a few things we look for in blog posts and story pitches:
- Concreteness – The more specific a pitch is, the better. Many of our favorite posts use strong examples to illustrate each point.
- Clarity – Your language should be clear and easily accessible.
- A New Take – We read a lot of online articles each day. We love coming across something fresh and new.
- Textile, fiber art, and pattern focused – We look for guest writers to tailor their content to our audience.

Please send an email containing the following information to [email protected].
In the subject line write: “Guest Writer Submission.” We will contact you and let you know if your idea is a good fit. If you have an article that you are ready to send in, write “Guest Write Full Article” in the subject line. We will provide further details and let you know if we are able to use it as a post.
